Hope Goes Viral
Millions of Americans are infected with viral hepatitis. While there is exciting news about existing and emerging treatments for viral hepatitis (hepatitis C) the financial burdens of this disease can be insurmountable for many families.
Hope Goes Viral is HFI’s campaign to give hope to individuals and families fighting hepatitis by raising funds for access to treatment. Hope is a healing force.
In this season of giving, the Hepatitis Foundation International has joined #GivingTuesday, a nationwide effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.
On December 2, 2014 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.
For more details about the #GivingTuesday movement, visit the #GivingTuesday website (www.givingtuesday.org), Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GivingTuesday) or follow #GivingTuesday
(https://twitter.com/GivingTues) and the #GivingTuesday hashtag on Twitter. We invite and encourage you to join our efforts in taking hope viral.
Through the years, the mission of HFI has remained consistent, while the need for our services continues to grow. Ninety-two cents of every dollar spent by HFI is dedicated to programs and services. We provide outreach, education, intervention and assistance for people at risk for liver disease, as well as conducting research and promoting awareness programs.
Help Us Celebrate Our Anniversary!
Next year the Hepatitis Foundation International (HFI) is celebrating its twenty-year anniversary! This is a big milestone for HFI. We have made a lot of progress in 20 years and have much more to accomplish. However we cannot do it alone and need your support.
As I write to you today, I am more concerned than ever by the rate and progression of hepatitis and the overlapping diseases and lifestyles choices that negatively impact the liver like obesity, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, diabetes and heart disease.
I have always looked for ways in which I can personally and fundamentally make a difference. I founded the HFI because I decided to take a tragic situation that happened in my life with the loss of my youngest son, Dean, and take a strong stand. When I meet someone for the first time and they tell me a similar story of loss they have experienced that could possibly have been prevented, it strengthens my resolve that HFI continue its work.
The Hepatitis Foundation International needs your support. Your gift of $25, $50, $25, $100, $250, $500 or whatever you can give makes all the difference...we are working on your behalf to serve you and honor those loved ones that are suffering from hepatitis or diseases that affect the liver. But we need your help now more than ever.
Let me tell you why your contribution to HFI is so important. For a volunteer effort like this every donation helps the HFI. Our staff is lean. However, we produce exceptional educational material and programs, conduct outreach to communities, operate a national hepatitis hotline, convene over six educational summits, and educate hundreds of health care professionals per year nationwide.
If you want to make a donation to HFI by a debit or credit card, rest assured you can donate securely online, just click the red donation button located on this page and throughout our website. It is fast and easy and will only take a moment of your time. If you prefer to make your donation by phone you can contact us toll free on (800) 891-0707. Please consider making HFI as generous a gift as you can.
As a nonprofit charitable organization know that your contribution to HFI is being used to provide services and very little, less than 10% of HFI funds are used for administrative costs. If you prefer to send a check, make your donation to the Hepatitis Foundation International and mail it to: HFI, 8121 Georgia Avenue, Suite 350, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Thank you for joining with us.
