What Are Our Summits?

Hepatitis Foundation International sponsors one day professional education and training summits for health professionals and others working with people who are affected by or infected with viral hepatitis including: nurse practitioners, nurses, counselors, case managers, physician assistants, public health professionals and others.

Viral hepatitis patients are encouraged to attend, as they will have the opportunity to learn first-hand current and reliable information from experts in the field.

Program Objectives:

• Describe how to discuss viral hepatitis transmission and prevention with patients/clients using simple and clear language in order to help them assess their own viral hepatitis risk behaviors and seek testing.
• Discuss and highlight statewide hepatitis prevention and education activities
• Describe hepatitis B prevention and treatment including treatment monitoring, side effect management and support needs.
• Describe expectations for hepatitis C treatment evaluation, management, duration, and outcomes.
• Discuss common lab tests related to viral hepatitis and their interpretation
• Identify three recommendations for improved patient/client psychological outcomes for management of hepatitis C.
• Describe practice challenges in treating a patient co-infected with hepatitis C/ HIV and how this impacts HIV positive individuals
• Discuss substance abuse and co-occurring sexual risk behaviors for viral hepatitis (HAV, HBV, and HCV)

Continuing Education Credits

HFI’s Viral Hepatitis Summits have been reviewed and approved to award continuining education units through these organizations. Each summit registration will detail the contact hours available.
